NFNM is a one-person independent news operation covering municipal government in Frontenac County, Ontario. This page explains how the journalism works and what you can expect from it.
Mission
NFNM exists to cover local government – council decisions, public spending, land use, and the people responsible for them. The municipalities in Frontenac County make decisions that directly affect residents, and most of those decisions get little or no press coverage. That is the gap this outlet fills.
The work is watchdog journalism. The goal is accountability, not access.
Sourcing and Verification
NFNM reporting relies on public, legally accessible sources: government records, council meeting minutes and agendas, corporate registries, court filings, land registry records, Statistics Canada data, municipal CivicWeb portals, public social media, and news archives.
Claims are cross-referenced against at least two independent sources where possible. When a claim rests on a single source, that is noted in the reporting.
Findings are documented with their source, how they were accessed, and when.
Right of Reply
Anyone who is the subject of investigative reporting is given the opportunity to respond before publication. The questions put to them and any responses received are preserved on file.
Facts and Opinion
NFNM articles distinguish between documented facts and editorial inference. No allegations are made without supporting evidence.
Corrections
Errors happen. When they do, they are corrected promptly and transparently. Corrections are noted on the article where the error appeared.

NFNM protects its sources. Tips submitted to this outlet are treated as confidential. Sources are not identified without their explicit consent.
Independence
NFNM has no corporate owner, no parent company, and no political affiliation. Editorial decisions are made by Donald Morton and no one else. No advertiser, donor, or outside party has any influence over what gets published or how it is covered.
Funding
NFNM is funded through voluntary reader donations and Google AdSense advertising revenue. No one can pay for coverage. Donations do not buy favorable reporting, and advertisers have no say in editorial content.
