Comment

Work Plan activities realized to date:

  1. Provide input and suggestions to recognize and realize actions relative to the County of Frontenac Trails Master Plan.
  2. Target to fully open the Frontenac K&P Trail section in Central Frontenac from Fish Creek Road to the village of Tichborne and continue where possible to Sharbot Lake 

The bridge at Fish Creek is installed with some detailed stone work scheduled to be done in warmer weather. The bridge being constructed at Elbow Creek has presented many challenges and is to be completed this month.

County Council has approved the re-routing of ATV traffic at the trail intersection at Oclean Lane to Fish Creek Road and back to the K&P.

  1. Work with adjacent landowners and private property owners (in the areas of discontinuity) to establish the trail route in preparation for phasing as outlined the 2013 Frontenac K&P Implementation Plan (Tichborne-Sharbot Lake) – Phase 2 

County Council has approved a budget allocation for the continuation of the development of the Frontenac K&P Trail to Sharbot Lake at $270,000 for 2015 and $450,000 for 2016.

A detailed listing of landowners located on the K&P Trail route has been identified. A strategy, including a communication plan, needs to be developed as to how to approach landowners for sale/lease/land use agreement.

  1. Communicate with other trail organizations and invite them to committee meetings to share best practices and possible partnerships 

Possible organizations to invite: Eastern Ontario Trails Alliance, Trans Canada Trail, South Frontenac Rides, R&A Ridge Runners Snowmobile Association, Share the Road, and the Waterfront

  1. Provide input and suggestions to facilitate the development and/or marketing of other trail systems as identified in the Draft 2014 Trails Concept Plan for the County of Frontenac.

Financial Implication Provisions for trail related expenses have been included in the 2015 budget.
