  3. Emergency Medical Services Chiefs of Canada (Executive and Board): April 4, May 2, June 6-7, June 8-10 (Annual Conference) Special Projects/Other Activities
  4. FPS has re-established its outreach to our Canadian Forces medics. Chief Charbonneau, Deputy Chief Gemmill and Deputy Chief Chevalier met with Major Steven Savoy, the new Commanding Officer of 33 Canadian Health Services Centre (CFB Kingston) to discuss military medics performing ride-alongs with their civilian counterparts. This program was endorsed by County Council in 2005. However since then, many military medics from CFB Kingston have been deployed to missions in Afghanistan. Major Savoy is hopeful that military medics will begin this project in early fall 2011.
  5. County Council declared the week of May 15th to 21st EMS Week with the international theme “Everyday Heroes”. FPS was present in the Cataraqui Mall during the week. As well as static displays of an ambulance, equipment and blood pressure clinics, there were children’s and adult draws for prizes. By all accounts, this was a very successful event and certainly went a long way in communicating our message to the citizens we serve about FPS and its role in their health care.

3. On June 5, 2011 seven staff and family participated in the 2011 Becel Ride for Heart in Toronto. The team rode varying lengths of 25 km, 50 km and 75 km. The ride is an annual Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario (HSFO) fundraiser in support of Public Access Defibrillator (PAD) programs and our team raised over $6,000. The funds will purchase three (3) Automatic External Defibrillators (AEDs) to be deployed within the Frontenacs. Congratulations to our team. Plans are already underway for next year. Maybe the Warden will ride with us.

Recommendation That the Council of the County of Frontenac accept this Emergency and Transportation Services – 2011 2nd Quarter Activity Update report for information only. Organizations, Departments and Individuals Consulted and/or Affected
