MINUTES OF THE ETS WEEKLY BRIEFING March 2, 2012
A regular meeting of the ETS Weekly Briefing was held in the Frontenac Room of the County Administrative Office, 2069 Battersea Road, Glenburnie on Friday, March 2, 2012 at 9:00 AM. 1.

DELEGATIONS
ONGOING BUSINESS a) Garbage Truck Crossing Fee Status- CD Campbell was following up and wanted to know if there was any update on the Garbage Truck Crossing Fee for the ferries. b) JBS- CD Campbell is not connected to JBS yet. IT was going to the ferry this morning to resolve the technical aspect of this request. This should be resolved by end of day, Mar 2, 2012
BUSINESS ARISING
NEW BUSINESS a) Special Olympic Games Sponsorship- PC The organization is proposing multi- county participation to support the event, in the form of providing ambulatory service. In return, participating services will be award a bronze sponsorship package. The group discussed how this could also be a good collaborative effort amount the union and the Paramedic Association.

b) Outcome of March 1 Crew Meetings- CD The group discussed the meeting that Colleen had with the marine staff regarding the revised collective agreement, particularly the casual staff being offered 4 shifts before the offer goes to a full time staff. c) Marine Crew Interviews- CD Campbell will be carrying out Marine Crew interviews on Mar 2, 2012. d) Additional Vehicle Once budget has been approved, the Prius will become an FPS vehicle. 9.
CHIEFS REMARKS •
Surveillance Policy Surveillance Policy has been circulated by Casey for the Inverary group to review. The procedure moving forward for policy review will be that once the email has been distributed, the group will have maximum 5 days to provide feedback.

Budget There will be a special budget meeting on March 13th with council, to work through all the items and have the budget resolved.
•
Labour Management Meeting FPS had a very productive Labour Management Meeting on March 1, 2012. Paul would like to see the same meeting held with the ferry staff. The group discussed the ferry staff’s signing in/out procedures, the grace period before and after, which will need to be clarified with them.
HEALTH AND SAFETY •
Policy Updates There are 4 outstanding policies that Bonnie Carter will be revising.

Supervisory Roles & Responsibilities There will be work sessions, primarily for Fairmount staff on the roles and responsibilities of supervisors, which FPS is already quite clear on.
ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION OF ISSUES •
Operations Stat tracks are in so vehicles will be off the road for a day. Suggest that maybe the logistics role can be filled by a part-time paramedic or a retiree.

Quality Assurance Need to book appointment for Cardiac Care. Bonnie has approached QA for assistance with her thesis on the correlation between traumatic emergency calls and work absenteeism.
•
Administration SIM truck video will be rolled out in 2 stages. First will be a short video of some scenarios, for public relations purposes. The second stage will be a staged accident and will occur later in the year hopefully in partnership with the St Lawrence College Digital Media students. Ride For Heart campaign will go ahead.
