Minutes of the Seniors Housing Task Force Meeting August 14, 2014 A meeting of the Seniors Housing Task Force was held in the Frontenac Boardroom of the County Administrative Office, 2069 Battersea Road, Glenburnie on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at 11:30 AM In Attendance: Denis Doyle, Chair John Purdon John McDougall Wayne Grant Pat Barr Staff: Joe Gallivan, Manager of Sustainability Planning Kelly Pender, Chief Administrative Officer Also Present: Ed Starr, SHS Consulting Ken Foulds, reFact Consulting Walter Knott, Resident 1.

THAT the minutes of the meeting held May 26, 2014 be adopted as circulated. CARRIED 5.
Deputations and/or presentations
Ed Starr and Ken Foulds provided an overview of their understanding of the expectations and timing for the Frontenac Islands Housing Study as outlined in their RFP submission dated July 17, 2014. Both answered questions from the members and from Mr. Knott. Points of discussion included: Capacity of Marysville to host a five unit facility Subsidized rental vs market rental Public engagement and site visits Ensuring septic system was sufficient to permit expansion Re-purposing an existing building/facility and related costs One bedroom and two bedroom options, or a separate guest suite Options re Federal funding to support the project not desirable if “strings” are attached Need to cost green initiatives to examine for a business case Changes to the building code related to energy efficiency and accessibility Accessibility vs visitability for the units Mr. Starr noted that if the units were not geared to income, there would be no role for the City of Kingston. 6.
Reports 2014-127 SHS Consulting – Senior’s Housing Business Plan Proposal
It was noted that Joe Gallivan would be the contact person between the Committee and the Consultants. A site visit near the end of September will be arranged by the Consultant. 7. Communications None. 8. Other business None. 9.
