Presented to County of Frontenac By Abigail McIlquham January 2023

UHKF UHKF was established in 2005 as the fundraising arm of Kingston Health Sciences Centre and Providence Care. In 2014 the three original foundations ceased to exist.

Caring for the Southeastern Ontario Region Through three hospital sites, a long term care home and community programs 500,000 people in southeastern Ontario are served by a collaborative and innovative approach to healthcare from before birth to end of life. A broad continuum of care includes: • Acute Care • Ambulatory Care • Mental Health Services • High Risk Obstetrics • Neonatal Intensive Care • Palliative Care • Cancer Care • Rehabilitation • Complex Continuing Care • Hospice

Transforming Care, Together The County of Frontenac has a longstanding reputation for supporting the hospitals, dating back to 1985. • 2018 – pledged $550,000 in support of capital projects • 2007 – pledged $540,000 in support of KGH expansion • 1995 – pledge $750,000 in support of capital projects • Total commitment of $2.5 million

Capital Cost / Local Share Mythbuster The government does not pay for all of Ontario’s hospital healthcare needs: • Ministry funds – 90% construction of major infrastructure (excluding ancillary spaces) – 0% of furnishing and equipment (except radiation therapy equipment) – 0% of minor capital (except HIRF approved) – 0% IT infrastructure • The balance is drawn from internal hospital revenue and philanthropy • KHSC local share needs alone exceed $400M in the next 10 years which includes the KGH redevelopment
