2024-010
Summary This report is to provide the committee an update on the seasonal municipal events. Recommendation This report is for information purposes only. Background South Frontenac has hosted two community events since the committee last met. This report is intended to inform and update the committee on those two programs. Discussion/Analysis Open Farm Days South Frontenac partnered with Frontenac County, the City of Kingston, and Tourism Kingston once again for Open Farm Days, connecting farming and food in the region. The initiative kicked off at the Frontenac Farmers Market on August 16th, and continuing until the end of September for six weeks of events taking place on farms, at Farmers Markets, and restaurants in Kingston. South Frontenac was directly involved with marketing initiatives and assisted with the Launch Event and the Frontenac County Plowing Match. The Open Farm Days team intends to meet in December to discuss successes, lessons learned, and the future of the program. Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon Community volunteers were invited to Council’s annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon on November 16, from 11:30 am – 1:30 pm at the Sydenham Legion Hall.

Township of South Frontenac Staff Report – 2024-010
Lunch was provided by Rampant Kitchen, and our local volunteers came together to celebrate the hard work that our community volunteers do to make South Frontenac a vibrant and welcoming rural community. The luncheon was open to all South Frontenac residents who have generously volunteered their time during 2024. It was free to attend but RSVP is required. Plus-ones were welcome to join and we had 70 people in attendance. For a second year, nominations were accepted for special recognition at the luncheon. Categories were ‘Youth Volunteerism’, ‘Good Neighbour’, and ‘Dedication Recognition’. Nominations were reviewed, and one person from each category received a special thanks at the luncheon. •
