March 13th, 2012 Meeting No. 9

The Mayor called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. 2. Declaration of Pecuniary Interest - NU 3.

Delegations

(i)

Jeff Peck, Sydenham Lake Association

Jeff Peck, Sydenham Lake Association, presented to Council. He reviewed the Mission

Statement and Objectives for the Lake Association. He emphasized that they are a

moderate, pragmatic organization with the objective to work with the stakeholders for the betterment of the lake.

One of the initiatives they are looking at is conducting a Lake Capacity Study. Their intent is to shidy the health of the lake and compare it to former studies. They seek the input of the Township as a partner. Gary Davison, a citizen, sits on the Committee. Council is supportive of the initiatives of the Lake Association and referred Jeff to

connect with staff for further information as appropriate. 4.

Business Items

(i) Angela Maddocks, Recreation Coordinator, Cemeteries in South Frontenac

Direction from Committee was for staff to write to the Board advising that Council is seeking feedback and direction to develop common fees and by-laws. Council is looking to have a response back by May.

(ii) Mark Segsworth, Public Works Manager, re: Portland Waste Disposal Site 1

The report spoke to the five potential contingencies that will be reviewed in preparation for Ministry response. The Township will need to engage the services of a consulting firm to help evaluate items 1 through 5. The Mayor and CAO are to be involved in the sign-offfor the consulting firm. (iii) Louise Fragnito, Treasurer, re Sydenham Library Final Reconciliation with County

Direction from Council was to advise the County that the Township would not be paying

the share not covered as a result of the failure to submit the final claims.
