Good journalism depends on people who know things and are willing to share them. If you have information about something happening in North Frontenac that the public deserves to know about, we want to hear from you.
You don’t need a complete story. A name, a meeting, a document reference, or a concern that “something doesn’t seem right” is enough to start. We’ll do the digging.

This is the simplest and most direct option for most tips. If your concern is low-risk and doesn’t require anonymity, just send us an email.
If You Need Confidentiality
We take source protection seriously. If you are sharing information that could put your job, relationships, or safety at risk, here are some options for reaching us more securely:
Use a personal email unconnected to your employer. A Gmail or Proton Mail account created with no identifying information is much harder to trace than a work account.
Contact us from a personal device on a personal network. Avoid using your work computer, phone, or Wi-Fi when reaching out.
ProtonMail: If you want end-to-end encrypted email, you can reach us at donald.nfnm@gmail.com. For maximum security, create a free ProtonMail account at proton.me and email us from there.
In person: If you live locally and want to talk face to face, email us to arrange a meeting at a location of your choice.
What Happens With Your Tip
- We will not publish your name without your explicit consent.
- We will verify information independently before publishing.
- We will contact the subject of any story for comment before publishing.
- We will tell you when a story based on your tip is published, if you want to know.
What Makes a Good Tip
- Documents — minutes, emails, reports, invoices, bylaws
- Decisions made without adequate public notice or transparency
- Spending that doesn’t add up
- Conflicts of interest involving elected officials or staff
- Public safety concerns that aren’t being addressed
- Anything that a public official wouldn’t want on the front page, but the public has a right to know
